Welcoming a Newborn: A Session Full of Heart.

There’s something about a newborn session that takes my breath away every time. It’s not just about the perfectly wrapped baby or the sweet sleepy smiles (though those are always a favorite). What makes these sessions truly special are the in-between moments — the ones that tell a family’s story in its very first chapter.

Recently, I had the joy of photographing a newborn session that was filled with everything I love most about this work: tiny details, genuine connection, and the love that radiates from every family welcoming a new little one.

The Beauty of Newborn Storytelling

When people think of newborn photography, they often picture carefully posed images — a baby curled up on a blanket, posed unnaturally and props and different backgrounds. And while those portraits are still beautiful, what I find most meaningful are the fleeting moments you can’t plan that are simple, clean and not distracting.

• The way a newborn stretches mid-nap, hands reaching as if discovering the world for the first time.

• The sparkle in a big sister’s curious eyes as she leans close, eager ( or not lol) to snuggle her baby sibling.

• The joy and quiet chaos of new parents holding both of their children together for the very first time.

These are the moments that tell the story of a family’s beginning — and they’re the ones you’ll want to look back on years from now.

Why Book Early?

I’m often asked when the best time is to reserve a newborn session. My answer? Sooner than you think.

Because babies arrive on their own schedules, I recommend reserving your session during your second trimester. This way, we can hold space around your due date and ensure we capture those early days — when your baby is still fresh, tiny, and oh-so-sleepy.
