Brothers for life: Oshawa, Bowmanville, Baby, Family, Portrait Photographer
Four years ago I met this sweet mom and dad as they welcomed their new son into the world. So naturally when mom reached out to say that baby #2 was due I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see them again and help celebrate the arrival of their second son.
During our session mom and dad and I were chatting and she shared a little bit of information with me that really made my heart fill with pride. It started out along the lines of we still love our photos from C (first son). Me: awwww that’s so amazing! Mom: we have this massive print…hold on a second! (insert happy dance) lol So yes…they have an image from their son’s newborn shoot BLOWN up and on display in their home. Friends and family to this day are in awe of this treasured memory and well I can’t blame them. I LOVE seeing my clients print their photographs. So keep on sharing, displaying and printing your memories. Years from now you will thank yourself for it! So will your children.
It’s pretty amazing that when a newborn is welcomed into a family new parents always say that it’s like he or she have been there all the time. The transition at times may not always be smooth sailing, however, the bond that a new mom and dad have with this tiny human is so powerful you can’t help but sit back and just admire. In my case, the perfect moments to be captured. When they can “just be” This also goes for any new sibling…when old enough to understand.
LOL…I mean…real life in between moments…the best!

Fitting it in: Lifestyle Fitness Branding Shoot
Meet Denise!
This beautiful mother of 2 came to me last month to refresh some headshots needed so she could launch a new business. Denise is a busy Fitness Instructor and Nutritionalist and has created a new extension of her business that caters to our online community as well. Introducing Fit In The Now! An online Digital Magazine for Women’s Health & Wellness. Not only was I honoured to be a part of this awesome new venture for her, but it is something that resonated with me as well. We all do our part to stay active and healthy. More importantly I love seeing people succeed.
Portrait sessions with me are not simply a hired job. But rather, if it’s art and work that I am not passionate about …I spend my time on things that I do love! So to be asked to partake in this special and exciting shoot for Denise I couldn’t wait!
I know most of my clientele are women, either just starting their family or are in the throws of tantrums or teenagers.. Fit In The Now is a cool online resource that delivers content that is real, factual and no BS. Something that applies to everyone in a positive, no drama and motivating environment. We ALL need more of this right? So representing herself in this new leg of her business was meant to be real, honest and standing strong for what her passion is. Baby Girl-1st Birthday Milestone: Petra King Photography Floral Shoot
When I was contacted to do a shoot for a sweet little one year old girl from this beautiful mama I was thrilled and excited. I knew right away what I wanted for her in studio. In comes Aspen Florist with the most gorgeous David Austin roses. Seriously tho, if you have yet to experience them in real life go see her. She manages to find the most brilliant, heavenly and stunning roses I know.
When this little one arrived with her mama she was nothing but smiles! We knew we were in for some fun! Meet Mia!

Mia was so full of expressions, gummy smiles, dimples as you can see. I love LOVE when my clients are comfortable in our studio and babies are relaxed and having fun. It seriously makes for the best experience and photographs and memories!

Love Squared Kids: Meet the Maker
Meet Durham Region’s Best Beanie maker Farah and her sweet family! Okay can we just take a hot minute and crush on these beautiful girls of her’s? I mean come on!!
Farah came into the studio over the holidays ( yes that is how far behind in blogging I am lol) and boy did we have fun! The girls came in with matching pj’s and sporting mom’s super cute, comfy and stylish beanies. So naturally I had some fun with these 2 silly sweet girls.
LOL at the images above. So let me break this scene down for you. Mom would love some beautiful portraits for home. Kids being kids..they are curious to see what was inside the prop Christmas presents.. Mom and Dad mortified they were trashing the set I laughed and winked at mom and said…let’s see where this goes.
Squeals and giggles, as the girls did their best to open the props. Check out those last 2 photos haaaa…the littlest one says “auntie” (me)…it’s empty! LOL we laughed so hard! But don’t worry, the session was pretty much done at this point and since these beauties were my last of 2018 I had a special little treat for them that they went home with.
Signing off 2018 with a tickle fest! They are the best right? (on someone else tho not me lol)

I LOVE meeting new families in studio. When proud new siblings walk right in and announce that they have a new brother and or sister and start taking off shoes and coats to make themselves at home. That’s usually a good sign that they are comfortable. While us adults giggle about it, and try to exchange welcomes as we get them in and seated.
You’ve just played that scenario in your mind right? LOL Yep it’s pretty much how it unfolded and our newborn sessions are always fun and entertaining when a 2 yr old and newborn are in studio!
But amid the excitement comes the sweetest moments. When a new Dad kisses his baby to help calm them when fussy. To cuddle and soothe and soak in that newborn smell.
And when a new mom to be gently kisses her son’s head…these in between moments are those that are the truest. Unplanned, not posed, just pure perfection. They pull at our heartstrings and stay with us forever.
Congrats to the F family! I can’t wait to see your little men grow! See you soon!

Christmas Santa Sessions
You guys we did it! We held our 1st Santa Session Event in the studio this past November and it was a total success! We sold out in a matter of days and the reception was so phenomenal it blew us away. To everyone who participated we Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Sharing your little ones’ first meeting with Santa here in the studio was nothing shy of magic and pure sweet emotion.
Our 1st Annual Santa Mini Session was held over 2 dates. Here is a recap of some of our most favourite moments. We hope you enjoy them as much as we had fun photographing this magical experience.

For some of these beautiful little ones it was their first right of passage meeting Santa. LOL But the mom in me knew I needed to be quick and to keep moving. Boy did I work up a sweat that day haaa. That said..every mom went home with at least one screamer. Sooo cute! Hee hee…
I wanted to take a minute and mention that this Gorgeous backdrop was all made possible by Lisa at Aspen Florist! Lisa…we had so many amazing compliments as you know on this whole event. Thank you THANK YOU…for your hard work, dedication and support for our Aspen and Petra Littles. We had a BLAST!
