An Autumn Maternity: Durham Region Professional Maternity Photography
Fall brings a season change for us all. Making way for colder temperatures and a TON of colour. One of my favourite sessions for so many reasons. However fall also brings the growth of new families. New moms and dads to be and along with the promotion of being upgraded to a big sibling ;)
This sweet family and myself met up one gorgeous fall day to capture a special and exciting time in their life. We couldn't have asked for a more PERFECT day and weather.
Mom and Dad and big brother decided to wait till baby arrived to find out the sex of the baby. Which I thought was amazing! As so many young families just can't wait lol. That I get too and I know it's a personal preference. It's just so refreshing to hear when parents to be have NO idea.
Wishing you a wonderful transition into parenthood and can’t wait to see you in studio with this little one.

Nine months is a long time to wait. Nine months can also go by pretty quickly in the grand scheme of things once you become a parent. It's funny how life is like that some times isn't it? Parents awaiting the arrival of their baby boy, all the planning and preparations to be done before he arrives. Then comes the day when you welcome your little bundle of joy home. And reality hits lol. OMG we are parents! He's finally here. Happy and excited...sleep deprived but grateful. So hopefully well before his arrival you have touched base with a Professional Photographer who specializes in newborn, baby and maternity photography to book your shoot. If you have well done and congrats on being organized. One thing that should be on the forefront of your mind is safety. It's far to easy to be distracted by all things pretty that suit your style or needs. But one thing I can't stress enough is to do your research and be comfortable about who you hire. I know most people prefer to text or email but talking on the phone is so easy and can answer a lot of your questions quicker than any back and forth correspondence can.
Hire a Professional Photographer that resonates with you. That can tell your story and celebrate the best of your life milestones as little or big as they may be.

His newborn session was a typical one. Lots of cuddles, feedings, changes and details. He had the most gorgeous sweetest baby lips ever! Future ladies look out lol! Soooooo cute!
I can't explain how special it is when my maternity couples come in to celebrate their pride and joy! Introducing their baby with loved ones near and far is a beautiful occasion.
During the flow of our sessions there are those images you'd love mom and dad to have (should baby allow) however ALL my sessions are different as they are baby led. I will follow his or her cues and create a story with your beautiful memories. Then of course...there are the in between moments that blow you away. That are absolutely perfect. They may not be as technically sound as they could be. But the pure emotion and rawness is what makes it perfect for mom and dad. And you know what...it's PERFECT for me too! It's the real YOU.
I can't wait to capture you. To celebrate you, your milestones and every detail possible during out time together.

Sweet Baby Blair: Durham Region Newborn Family Photography
Hey guys!
Man...how the weeks fly by when you are having fun lol. It's ALMOST Christmas here. HOLY SMOKES! SO much has happened from my last post till now. My apologies for the gap in blogging. That said...the life of an entrepreneur never ends. So while it's been quite this side I've been busy busy in studio shooting and the holidays came in full force!
However I have been exited to be able to catch up and I can't wait to share this next session with you all. Introducing sweet baby Blair. Her addition to a wonderful young family has brought them closer together. She has a beautiful big sister and an adoring big brother to watch over her and help as she grows. Look at those big blue eyes. Such a sweet little face.
SO typically I have mom's bring something unique to their session that they would like to incorporate in at least one image. Below are the cutest and funniest little baby slippers. We had fun adding them for this shot. Blair's feet were so small that we pretty much lost her toes. Haaa...so I had to shoot at an angle so you knew just how little she was.

Jessica's Story: World Diabetes Day 2018
This next post has been in the works for the last month or so and it's something that I was more than honoured to be a part of. To help capture this very special and amazing woman and her story. Taking a breather from our beautiful maternity mamas and babies to share with you something that is so important and yet still so widely unknown.
Today is World Diabetes Day. The beautiful woman I am about to introduce you to has Type 1 Diabetes.
Meet Jessica. Mom of 2 sweet girls and wife to an adoring husband. She is a sister. A daughter, a cousin a friend and hard worker. A goal getter and teacher to her daughters. Jessica is just like you and I, and unique. Jessica has Type 1 Diabetes. Her journey with Diabetes started 26 years ago. She was only 11 when she was diagnosed. Imagine being an eleven year old and learning of this news in today's day in age. Twenty six years ago was a long time...how do you think you would have reacted then? I am pretty certain like most of us the news would have been quite a shock and a blow to the system learning that a whole new lifestyle will be in place for the rest of your life. Growing up is never easy and kids can be very cruel when they don't understand. However, having a strong family and support system around you every day, along with the right medical help and knowledge will assist you to do great things and live a healthy long life. It is serious and sadly some don't take it as serious as they should.
When I was asked to collaborate with Jessica so she could share her story and help educate, empower and spread the word about Diabetes Awareness I was truly honoured. It was a session she felt strongly about so that she could instill the message to her children and others, that no matter what circumstances come your way, to stand tall and be proud of who you are.
Our session was emotional and heartfelt. You see..despite many of us knowing about Diabetes, it is not a subject that all have the slightest clue about when it really comes down to it. It is an Autoimmune disorder that is a constant management of your blood glucose levels. Your blood glucose is affected by every single thing you do, tools and technology has come a long way but it's still something that a person whom has type 1 diabetes has to manage in every aspect. In Jessica's case, she has had this since she was a young girl and it was something that she was scared to share. Over the past 10 years since becoming a new mother has she really understood the importance of good diabetes management and how to not be ashamed about a disease that so little about.

While listening to her story and journey so far with Type 1, she describes it as overwhelming, constant management, frustrating and sometimes scary. Now that she has become a mom, it's ever more important to take care of herself for her children and family. To educate and share knowledge, stories, hardships and the wins. To also let others know they aren't alone.
During our photoshoot, not only did we talk a lot we laughed a ton too. It's one thing to envision yourself in someone else's shoes if even only for an hour. But to visualize what a day in the life of would be like. Now that is something entirely different. This is what the real superheroes live and fight for everyday. Jessica you are a superhero. These are not your battle scars...these are badges of honour. You wear proudly every single day. So for that alone...Thank you for being an ambassador for Type 1 Diabetes! Thank you for allowing me to tell and share your story and for putting yourself out there. You fight to keep healthy, strong and positive every day and those who have the privilege of knowing you are truly blessed. You are a beautiful soul, a wonderful mother and a badass babe that I am so grateful I get to call you my friend. Teach, share and empower. You got this! Keep slaying girl!

Excited New Big Brother: Oshawa Newborn Baby Photographer
This excited new big brother came into the studio recently! It's pretty amazing to think that after all these years clients reach out thanks to social media and are in studio within a few days time. I LOVE how social media works and connects us all. What I love MORE is the connections and friendships I make along the way. Meet the S Family. I met them over 3 years ago as I photographed the arrival of their first child. Little but mighty he was..and fast forward to present day, his personality did NOT disappoint lol. Typical 3.5 year old and full of energy. But let me tell you about how much he loves his new little sister. Who he has nicknamed "little mamas" .... omg soooo cute haaaa!!

Long may this little guy love his sister like he did that day. When he jumped off the iPad watching PJ Masks to run over and give her kisses, I know he melted hearts of mom, dad and myself.
Watch over her, protect her and forever be the one she will look up to.

Couple Maternity Session: Oshawa Maternity Photographer
The impending arrival of a new baby is amazing. It`s scary, it`s excitement and worry and all other emotions you go through...and that`s just the first 10 minutes lol...JK! All joking aside this wonderful time in a couples lives goes by so quickly. Just ask any parent. While some days may drag on and you are tired, sore and moody...once your little one arrives and a new adventure begins for you, those feeling and memories will be a little distant. Fast forward to one year ahead and it feels like an eternity away. Another reason why it is important to document your pregnancy milestone with beautiful photographs. Your future self will be so happy that you did. To be able to look back and these beautiful images with pride and love. That is just what this beautiful young mama and her husband did recently in studio.
