5 Tips to help plan for your business: Oshawa_Durham Region_Branding_Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
Hello and good day to you!
I do hope that this post finds all of you well and in good spirits?
I decided to blog this next topic vs posting on Instagram as there was much more to be said on this platform. Don’t worry I will link it back over for you just in case you miss this here.
Planning for your business especially when it comes to content and what to share is something that we all struggle with at times. We brainstorm, have mastermind sessions and meetings with others to inspire us. I mean some days the posts and content just come naturally. Other’s not so much.
Below are some tips and a FREEBIE at the end of the post so hopefully it can help ease your workflow a little better too
Planning ahead of time means that your content will be consistent and valuable. Plus you’ll be able to see what’s needing the most attention at that time and how to schedule more time for other tasks. Thus relieving yourself of the stress and panic that comes with what to talk about and share/post. Remember value added over posting content just for the sake of posting is key.
Here are 5 tips that can help:
Make sure your blog posts are your 1st priority. Blogging has certainly make a comeback and is crucial for businesses these days. Its important to have a home base or hub where clients can turn to so they can hear your voice, see your work in more details and of course it’s awesome for SEO. You can always drive your traffic over to your social media platforms and vice versa.
I mentioned earlier about posting quality over quantity. Please note that you do NOT need to be pushing out one post per day to be successful or to bee seen. Rather, it’s better to start off slowly and with dense quality content that will actually be beneficial to both your client and customers.
Consistency. Are you sick of hearing about this word yet? It is ok! You will get used to it and soon enough things will become second nature. Build that “know, like, trust” factor. Try to put your content out the same time weekly. This will help your audience relate to you, become familiar with you and you will become a reliable source for them. Do your best. But I get it…life happens and we all fall short some days.
Batching your day. Love it? Hate it? Prefer to multitask like you work on Wall St? By working in chunks of time if you can. for me, this has been the best way to prioritize my business to do list. You can always set aside specific days for certain tasks ie: blogging days, social media/scheduling days, editing days, production days etc etc…. If you can’t do a whole day due to interruptions or life in general, then do 1/2 a day. By divvying up the work load into batches of similar tasks we can spend less time as possible on things and reduce the ping pong effect of going from task to task.
Recycle your content. The brilliant thing about Social Media is that not everyone will be able to see you content at the same time on all of your platforms. It’s just not possible to hit everyones feed with just with just one platform. So…recycle. Use content you posted months ago on one and share to another platform. This way you’ll also be seeing things fresh and reaching all your new followers who have jus joined you too!
Bonus…you won’t have to reinvent the wheel with content for each post too! Pretty sweet right?
As mentioned here is a content planning FREEBIE that will hopefully help you to plan your content and be better organized to schedule your content. These are just examples but feel free to customize them on your own!
Till next time,
P

Trumpet sounds…doo do do doooooo lol…Fresh new kid on the block for this gorgeous sweet family!
Hey guys! Happy Thursday ;).
Okay…taking a moment to appreciate the little details in life like wrinkly baby fingers. Meet Harper! This sweet baby girl made her intro earth-side a few weeks ago and she brought in her big brother, and gorgeous mom and dad for her newborn session. I was so excited to do this shoot for my repeat client as the last time I saw her we did a Simply Motherhood event with her then 8 month old son.
We had a fun, busy time during our session. Throughout our session I always keep things moving forward. Especially when we have toddlers involved. I know as a parent that you have a small window to work with when it comes to attention and patience. I must comment and and say that these 2 parents handled things like pros. Balancing a newborn and a toddler is not easy. Trust me I have been there…( mine are 11 months apart HA!…more on what life was like then another time)
That said, you shift focus. Yes ultimately your goal is to capture this beautiful new babe (and we did) however you need to realize and remember that as a toddler this new dynamic and routine is something they have yet to embrace. You are bound to have a slew of emotions and roller coaster days.
Making “new” older brothers or sisters feel like they are part of this experience is key and so important too. We captured Mason (big brother) for a few minutes and he didn’t even realize that the monkey in my camera was really his own reflection ;)
See more in the gallery below…
Our family newborn sessions are always natural and baby led. The most common question I get asked is what does a typical newborn session look like? My response…is baby led. Every session is different, unique and authentic. While we have some ideas of what is important to be captured, telling your story through my eyes, interactions, the experience is always one of a kind.
Thank you for trusting me with your sweetest littles and as always…a wonderful honour and journey to walk these fleeting milestone moments with you!
Enjoy and till next time!

Sweet 6th month baby girl_Oshawa Baby Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
Classic milestone portraits with floral accents for this sweet 6 month old baby girl. These sessions have blossomed into SO much more than we ever expected. Clients are absolutely loving them and all the sweet memories for their growing little ones.
It’s always wonderful to capture an inquisitive little soul, but add in some gorgeous fresh flowers from Aspen Florist and it is such a wondrous and sweet session to photograph. Babies have this curiosity and for the most part, no fear about things that sometimes us adults would normally second guess.
Meet Harlow! This adorable sweet little Bub came in for her milestone session recently. You may remember her gorgeous mama HERE! Hard to believe this was 6 months ago! We did a styled shoot for Harlow’s 6th month session and as you can see she had a lot of fun!
Here is some more we captured that day!
Scroll through till the last image. Trust me… ;) LOL. needless to say we were done. And just for the record, she was such a great little baby to photograph. She had fun too and those tears at the end were all Crocodile tears… Bless her. Her mama says she fell asleep by the time she got to the main road.
Thanks Harlow for hanging in there with us for your session!!!

Full Circle: Oshawa_Maternity_Baby_Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
Throwing it back to 2 years ago when this beautiful mom walked into the studio for her maternity session. We have come full circle now. Shy, quiet and admitting she has no idea what to do. She placed all her trust in me and said let’s do this. ;). As with all my sessions, we get to know you. We chat, we laugh and making you feel comfortable even if we end up chatting longer than expected. She was also one of my first maternity clients in the new studio space.
The above image was one that was in the moment. Often times you’ll find that I get into a zone and on a whim will say k…I have an idea lol. The mood, lighting and calmness of our session called for some texture and grounding. Resulting in this simplistic and natural image.
Mom and Dad came back into studio once the arrival of their first child was born. Sweet Sophie.
And now jumping forward to present day, mom emailed with some amazing news that they were expecting the arrival of their 2nd. This time we had the whole family in and the resulting memories are oh so adorable…wouldn’t you agree?
Stay tuned for their newborn session coming soon! I can’t wait to share it with you.
Creating beautiful memories for you and your growing family is something that I LOVE to do. Have questions? Let’s chat…feel free to email the studio today.
See you soon…
Petra
